A Couple of Extra Large Cats on the Beach Paintings
Joining the 10 new little kitty paintings which arrived at Whitby Galleries last week are a couple of extra large cats on the beach paintings. I love painting cats in Summery beach scenes and these 2 paintings are bursting with seaside fun!
Caturday at the Beach was inspired by the typical scenes you see at any UK beach on a sunny Summer’s day. You can’t see the sand for beach towels. People are sprawled out on the sand sunbathing. Belongings are strewn around and kids are building castles.
A little bit of sun and us Brits seem to go mad. The population appears to triple and you can’t get moved for sun-worshipers. Replace the people for cats, and I imagine this is what it would look like.
Don’t worry! These sunbathing kitties have their tubes of sunblock. There’s even a little mouse joining in the sunbathing fun. Not sure if the cats don’t know he’s there or, that they just don’t care.
The Purrfect British Summer Holiday. Another piece inspired by what UK families get up to in the Summer. Especially those living near the coast. Most tend to head for the beach. While we enjoy the sun, sea, and sand no matter how many others are there. It’s nice to have a quietier beach where you can sit and admire the sea view uninterrupted.
That’s exactly what this feline family is doing. Enjoying the sea view from their spot on the beach. I get the impression that these kitties are ‘borrowing’ this beach towel though. After all, there are a pair of flip-flops there and last time I checked. Cats don’t wear flip-flops!

Thank you very much. They are cute. Bethany Cosentino once remarked: “I looked at pictures of cats lying on the beach and thought:“ Cats hate water, so why do they need a beach? “But then I realized that cats like to just lie down, relax and be lazy, but what could be better than on the beach?”
