New Cat Paintings at Whitby Galleries – Beloved Things Collection Now Available
The newest order of cat paintings has now arrived at Whitby Galleries.
It’s been around six months since I painted the previous collection, so the shelves were definitely starting to look a little light on cats. Alongside this new batch of kitties, there are also a few other animal artworks still available in the gallery: cow, chicken, deer, etc. You can see those in last month’s update if you’d like to take a look at the wider selection
A “Beloved Things” Collection (sort of…)
This wasn’t originally planned as a themed collection, but as I worked through the first few paintings, I realised a pattern had started to emerge. The cats all seemed to be enjoying something they love. So the theme became “Beloved Things” — a loose idea centred around small comforts, favourite places and simple joys.

From warm sands and countryside strolls to cardboard boxes, flowers and old books, or sitting under the full moon, each painting captures a different little moment of cat contentment.
There’s even a fish and chip supper scene… although the gull who’s taken a keen interest in proceedings might be making that particular moment slightly less relaxing for the cat involved!

As the collection developed, I also noticed something else happening almost unintentionally: yellow eyes everywhere.
Out of the ten paintings in this order, six ended up with warm golden eyes. One has blue eyes, one green, and two have their eyes closed entirely, resting or lost in their own world.
It wasn’t planned, but it does seem to tie everything together in a subtle way.

Overall, this is a very calm, characterful collection — lots of quiet moments, small stories, and cats doing exactly what cats do best: enjoying whatever they’ve decided is theirs in that moment.
