Paintings, Purrs & Procrastination: New Cat Art at Whitby Galleries

Oops, I’m Late… But Here’s the Whitby Galleries Update!

So, it’s only been, what, four months since my last update? Don’t worry, I haven’t been slacking off – I’ve just been caught up in a whirlwind of painting, posting, and a bit of good ol’ forgetfulness. But I’ve finally gotten around to writing about the most recent Whitby Galleries order from back in March… better late than never, right?

Now, full disclosure: by the time I’m posting this, almost all the paintings from the order have already found their new homes. (I’m not complaining, I promise!) There’s only 3 left, but I didn’t want to jump the gun and write about it until I could see which ones were snapped up first. Of course, I completely forgot because of the huge mountain of things I have to do. Oops!

The order includes some of my favorite creations to date, like:

  • A black cat lounging in a bed of flowers – perfect for those who appreciate the little things in life (and black cats, obviously).
  • A ginger sailor with his fishy haul – he’s looking pretty pleased with himself.
  • A tuxedo kitty perched on a branch, surrounded by pretty pink blossoms – because who doesn’t love a cat in a tux?
  • A wool-addicted kitty tangled up in a big, cozy mess – we’ve all been there, right?
  • A grey tabby lounging between books on a shelf – perfect for those who think the best way to spend an afternoon is reading and napping.

Some of these pieces had interest before they were even finished. I swear that sometimes the magic of posting works in progress on social media can be both a bane and a blessing at the same time!

I’ve had a bit of a color adventure with this batch, too! I splashed out on some magenta, cyan, and yellow paints, and I am loving the results. A whole new color-mixing experience – like magenta and yellow making red! Definitely using these colors more often. You’ve probably noticed my current obsession with magenta! The tuxedo cat with the blossoms has been a particular hit, with the magenta and cyan combo really popping. Absolutely love how it turned out!

Right now, I’m back in action, working on a brand-new order of 15 paintings. There will be more cats (when is there not?!), but I’ve also been asked to include some of your wildlife faves. Yes, badgers, foxes, and maybe an owl or deer are making a comeback – and you know what that means? The return of Phthalo Blue for those moonlit skies! 💙

That’s all for now, folks! If you’re still eyeing up any of the remaining paintings from the Whitby Galleries collection, you’d better act fast – I have a feeling they won’t last long. And in case you’re wondering, I’ll try not to leave it another four months to update the blog again… probably. Details below for how to order.
