Odds + Ends

Playing with Logos and a New Certificate of Authenticity

For months I’ve been meaning to update my website again and try to create a brand for myself. I have a brand name, Lisa Marie Art & Illustration, but it’s just far too long in my opinion. I should have thought of something short and snappy but it’s too late now. I’ll just have to work with it somehow.

I’ve already started on a new website layout which is clean and fresh and displays my work a lot better than my current one so I’ve been working on a logo. Something for the website but which can also be used on compliments cards and other things.

New Logo Ideas

I quite like the top one but I feel it is too modern. The main area I concentrate on is small format art so I tried something with a mouse to symbolize the small part but I’m not sure if I like it or not.

My cats have become something that people recognise me for so my third logo sketch features an ink drawing of a tuxedo cat’s head. They say that the third time is the charm and I think I like this one the most. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the text yet but I can definitely do a lot of different things with the cat.

New Certificate of Authenticity for ACEO

Something else I’ve been working on is a brand new Certificate of Authenticity which I give along with my paintings. I’ve gone for something simple which gives me more space to hand write the essential elements like the title and date. My new COA is the same size as the old one, 3.5″ x 2.5″, so that it will still fit in the protective sleeve with my ACEOs.

I’ll be slowly fazing the new COA in as I still have a few of the old style left. I’ll also be packaging my ACEOs a little differently in the near future. I’m trying out a few ideas. The envelopes may or may not be disappearing and I have a little issue with ribbon to sort out. We’ll see how it goes.

Hi Selene,

It was just trial and error really. I wanted something that could fit in the sleeve with the ACEO. So I made a COA the same size and did a test print to see if it was readable.

I use a different COA now though. My new one is twice the size of an ACEO and I fold it in half to fit in the sleeve.

Just experiment and see what works for you :)
