Tabby Cats and Calicos finally arrive at Whitby Galleries
My new collection of tabby cats and calicos for Whitby Galleries sat unfinished, a deadline of late January looming. Weeks bled into each other, and the cats I was painting remained untouched. The culprit? It wasn’t artistic block, but a whirlwind of events that unfolded between Christmas and January 24th. These unexpected and distressing events not only completely derailed my art business but also impacted my personal life greatly. I caught covid and then my mum passed away.
I won’t go in to the details, and to say that I am heartbroken is an understatement. For obvious reasons, the art projects that I was working on had to be put on pause, including the paintings for Whitby Galleries. It feels good to be back creating art again, albeit at a slightly slower pace as I adjust to a new normal. I’m slowly catching up with things, the first of which is this collection of kitties I was working on before everything happened. Grief can be a strange muse, and in a way, it has made me appreciate the simple joy of capturing the playful spirit of the cats I paint.
Enough about me, time to introduce the new cat art! There are a tonne of tabby cats and calicos this time around, as some black and whites from last time are still waiting for new homes. To be honest I don’t give the tabbies enough love.
It may only be February, but this collection is a celebration of kitties throughout the seasons. Ginger tabbies enjoying spring flowers and basking in Summer sun on warm sands, a calico in the snow with Winter berries, and a tux surrounded by Autumnal vibes. There’s even a journey through the house, capturing their antics in the bathroom, library corner, and yes, even the infamous kitty bum makes a return to the cat flap – this time, a rotund calico stealing the show!
Don’t forget that you can follow me on social media for almost daily updates. I post sneak peeks of new paintings and new products that I’m working on, as well as important updates about posting your orders (delays, etc.) You can find me on Instagram, Twitter X, and Facebook, and now Bluesky and Threads!
Website update also coming soon. I hope!
