Armeria Maritima

Armeria Maritima Watercolour Sketch © Lisa Marie RobinsonWatercolours are something which I find incredibly difficult to use and I’m probably not alone.

I never use them on their own and always use them in conjunction with gouache, to fill in blocks of suggested colour before I switch to acrylic, or when I’m sketching to hint at colours.

I’ve spent most of today painting outside and although warm, it’s still a lot cooler than being indoors.

After finishing a new cat ACEO for auction on ebay, I got my sketch book out and began a quick watercolour sketch of a Armeria Maritima (Sea Pinks) plant that I have in a terracotta pot.

Normally I would do a light pencil sketch first but my pencil had gone AWOL so I just went straight in with the watercolours.

I quite like the simplicity of the sketch so I may digitally enhance it and use it to create some personal letterheads and stationery for you to purchase from my Zazzle store. We’ll see what happens.
